The Morgan Park Community Roots Organization

The Morgan Park Community Roots Organization [Morgan Park Roots] was established in 1976 by local Morgan Park residents who possessed a profound love for their community. The Morgan Park community is located on the far south side of Chicago. Emeritus, Helen L. Warren is the last living co-founder of the organization. The organization prides itself on the hallmark of celebrating peace, love, and unity to instill a “love thy neighbor” cooperative spirit for all residents across Chicago. The Morgan Park Roots Organization is proud to have been recognized by Proclamations from the Office of the Mayor, the Honorable Harold Washington (1984) and Honorable Rahm Emanuel (2012).

Today, the Morgan Park Roots Organization has expanded its mission to foster and promote mental and physical health awareness and education; support violence prevention by promoting peace and safe spaces for communities; enhance living and environmental conditions for residents as advocates for economic development, affordable housing, and addressing health and cultural disparities. The organization partners with a plethora of local businesses, schools, coalitions and faith-based organizations to bring information, resources, and education to communities.
